Captain Roy Lee Davis, Ret. USAF, 80, died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Roy, the fifth of eight children, was born on March 12, 1935 in McDowell County, WV and graduated from Lebanon High School in Virginia. He then joined the United States Air Force at age 17. Roy was known for his gift of conversation having never met a stranger and his love of sports and coaching. A great storyteller, Roy pulled from his vast life experiences and relationships with beloved friends and relatives in the hollows and ridges of Appalachia and exotic lands. He loved bluegrass and vintage country music and entertaining his family and friends on the guitar. Most importantly, Roy delighted in bringing humor and joy to each life he touched, making each person feel special.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Lee Davis and Lottie Jessee Davis; brothers, Charlie Davis, Bill Davis, and Jack Davis, and sisters Mabel Compton and Lucille Brewer.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ramona Zeek Davis; sons, Dr. Thomas E. Davis (Cherie) and Mike Davis of Chattanooga; and grandchildren Gwennie Davis, Beatrice Davis and Thomas H. Davis of Chattanooga.
