The Chattanooga Music Teachers Association, hosts for the Tennessee Music Teachers Association 2015 State Conference presents Conference Artists Gloria Chien, pianist and Soovin Kim, violinist in concert on Monday. The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. in Roland Hayes Hall, Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St. on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is also free.
The artists are members of the prestigious Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society Two.
Ms. Chein is founder and artistic director of Chattanooga's String Theory at the Hunter. She is director of the Chamber Music Institute at the Music@Menlo Festival in California and associate professor at Lee University in Cleveland. She is a Steinway artist. Mr. Kim is first prize winner of the International Paganinni violin competition. He is first violinist of the Johannes String Quartet and a faculty member at the New England Conservatory. Mr. Kim plays a Stradivarius violin on loan to him from Marlboro Music.
Ms. Chien will conduct a Piano Master Class for advanced students on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Roland Hayes Hall.
Mr. Kim will conduct a Violin Master Class, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Cadek Hall on the UTC campus, 725 Oak St.
Ingrid Clarfield, nationally recognized teacher, pianist and author, will conduct a Multi-level Piano Master Class on Monday at 2 p.m. in Cadek Hall, Oak St., UTC campus.
All three master classes are free and open to the public.
