The Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents today announced the eight district nominees for the 2016 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year on Wednesday.
The 2016 district superintendents of the year are:
Mr. Eddie Pruett, Gibson Co. Special School District, Northwest District
Mr. Shawn Kimble, Lauderdale Co., Southwest District
Dr.
Mike Looney, Williamson Co., Mid-Cumberland
Ms. Sandra Crouch, White Co., Upper Cumberland District
Dr. Bill Heath, Lawrence Co., South Central District
Mr. Jerry Levengood, Rhea Co., Southeast District
Dr. Richard Bales, Johnson City, First District
Mr. Rob Britt, Blount Co., East District
The winner will be announced September 13 at the annual TOSS awards and recognition dinner in Gatlinburg. Mr. Wayne Miller, TOSS executive director, stated, “Superintendents in Tennessee are leading their districts to help students grow academically. The district superintendents of the year exemplify the best of this work.”
The Tennessee superintendent selected for this statewide honor will advance to the National Superintendent of the Year selection process, sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators. The winner will represent Tennessee in Phoenix, Az., at the AASA National Conference on Education in February 2016.
