The Chattanooga Lookouts (46-35) scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to cut the Mississippi Braves (40-42) lead down to one, but the team's rally ended up falling short.
The teams combined for 23 hits in the game. Mississippi had 13 hits to Chattanooga's 10. The Lookouts have fallen to 3-10 and are in last place in the Southern League North Division trailing the first place Birmingham Barons (10-3) by seven games.

Mississippi struck first in the opening frame with a solo home run by KD Kang off of Alex Wimmers (L, 5-3). The Lookouts responded to Kang's dinger in the bottom of the inning with a Kennys Vargas two-run homer, his first of the year. Those two runs would be the only runs Braves' starting pitcher Jorge Reyes (W, 6-4) would allow on the day.
In the third inning the Braves opened a three-run lead on doubles by Kang and Kevin Ahrens. They increased their lead to four in the fifth when David Rohm singled home Matt Kennelly.
Down 6-2 entering the last inning the Lookouts began to mount a furious two-out comeback. After the Braves loaded the bases with three straight walks, Adam Brett Walker singled home Levi Michael and Stephen Wickens. Mike Gonzales then cut the lead down to one with a single of his own to plate Vargas. The rally stopped there however as Aderling Mejia struck out to end the game.

Friday, the Lookouts set their sights on winning game two of the series when they send lefty Brett Lee (0-2, 4.70) to the mound on 90's Night and a Fireworks Friday at AT&T Field. First pitch is set for 7:15 with gates opening at 6:00.
