Escondido will play at Nightfall at Miller Plaza on Friday

The Nightfall Concert Series continues Friday with the desert rock sound of headliner Escondido, preceded by local opener Ten Bartram.

Presented and produced by Chattanooga Presents, this 19-week free outdoor concert series is held every Friday at Miller Plaza and features headline performances by a broad spectrum of music performed by national and international artists.

Review for Escondido:

Headliner Escondido consists of Nashville-based artists Jessica Maros and Tyler James. Described as a band whose songs are a tale of love lost across the western sky, Escondido is a rare alt-country crossover act with highbrow cred, receiving positive attention from CMT and NPR alike. Recorded live in a single day, their 10-song debut album was released Feb. 26, 2013. The pair met while James was recording their mutual friend at his home studio.  They spent the next two months crafting songs and bonding over a shared love of spaghetti westerns and 70’s music. “It’s an easy process when you both love the same stuff,” says Maros.  With swirling trumpet, keyboard and guitar underlying seductive vocals, Escondido’s songs range from the Tom Petty/Fleetwood Mac influenced pop numbers to playful twang songs described as cowboy western rock.

Review for Ten Bartram:
Eleanor Angel and Rebekah Angel Rapp of Ten Bartram have been making music together for their entire lives. Their mix of acoustic-heavy songs received national attention when they broke into the iTunes top 10 on the singer/songwriter chart with their EP, In Tandem, in the fall of 2012. Their childhood memories sound like a review of the 1960s folk scene, with plenty of Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Their collaborations began when Eleanor put her older sister’s poetry to music. The diverse selection of songs from the band attracts an audience of multiple generations. Ranging from pop-inflected folk to jazz to blues to Americana, each song has a distinct sound that is brought to life by the powerhouse vocals of the sisters.

Food trucks and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site at Nightfall. However, no outside food or beverages are allowed to be brought in to the event.
