Mathis, Peggy Hobbs (Dunlap)

Peggy Hobbs Mathis, 81, of Dunlap, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunlap were she enjoyed fixing flowers and volunteering at the food pantry for several years. She was also an avid quilter and expert seamstress. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Mathis; parents, Alton and Winnie Lockhart Hobbs; and brothers, Jimmy and Hugh Donald Hobbs. 

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Gayle (Steve) Baxley, of Russellville, AR, Donna (Howard) Ewton, of Dunlap and Penny (Michael) Oates, of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Tabetha Ewton, Danielle Shoemate, Daniel (Crystal) Ewton, Joshua Baxley, Jeremy (Krysten) Baxley and Holden Usherwood; and great-grandchildren, Baylee, Ian, Danika, Dane, Hannah and Molly. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. CST Thursday, Aug. 27 in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Rankin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. 

In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested that you make memorial contributions to the Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network, P.O. Box 98, Dunlap, TN 37327.
