Davenport, Nellie B. (Summerville)

Nellie B. Davenport, 89, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, at her residence.  
 
A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Roy Clinton and Hattie Lemuel Veatch Allmon, on July 6, 1926.  Mrs. Davenport was retired from the sewing department of the former Best Mfg. Company of Menlo, Georgia and a member of Chelsea Baptist Church.  
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garner Earl Davenport; sisters, Sarah Evans, Margaret Knight, Zenter McHaffey and Fannie Mae Hunter; and brothers, the late Rube Allmon, Cecil Allmon and Deforest Allmon.
She is survived by two daughters & spouses, Jeanette and Bill Shelby and Shirley and Albert Smith, Jr.; son & spouse, Benny and Karen Davenport; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m., EDT, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Spears and Rev. Larry Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers are Daniel Smith, Corey Smith, Mark Davenport, Michael Smith, David Jackson and Jody Smith.  

The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 31 from 6-8 p.m. EDT, at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, who us in charge of arrangements.
