Sister Act, A Divine Musical Kicks Off 92nd Season At The Chattanooga Theatre Centre

The Chattanooga Theatre Centre opens its 92nd season Friday, Sept. 18, with Sister Act, A Divine Musical. The show – directed by Scott Dunlap with Tim Hinck as musical director – runs through Oct. 4 with 10 performances on the MainStage. 

The musical is based on the hit 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, who was also a producer of the 2011 Broadway adaptation. 

Kimberly Johnson makes her CTC debut in the role of Deloris Van Cartier. Beth Gumnick plays the Mother Superior. Rudy Foster is detective and love interest Lt. Eddie Souther. The sisters of the Holy Order of the Little Sisters of Our Mother of Perpetual Faith, the Monsignor, and the gang of toughs are made up of new and familiar faces to the CTC: Chris Barr, Grace Partin, Jeff Hill, Byron Francis, Garrett Henson, Fernando Guadarrama, Dawn Hendrix, Beth McClary, Tiffany Adams, Jordan Bennett, Tiffany Bulloch, Dana Cole, Hayley Graham, Kendra Gross, David Howard, Alonzo Julian, Joanna Lewis, Deborah Meeks, Jamie Newberg, Alexis Newson, Lindsay Pruitt, Lauren Rayhab and Thaddeus Taylor. 

Sister Act was written by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane,  lyrics by Glenn Slater and music by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken whose hits include many of Disney’s most popular songs. 

Individual tickets for this opening production go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 18, or are available now with season ticket purchase thought Sept. 18 at TheatreCentre.com or by calling 267-8534. 

The price of individual tickets to musicals at the Theatre Centre will increase next season. Tickets are $15 to $30 with opening night priced at $35. Non-musical ticket prices will remain the same -$12.50 to $25 and $30 opening night.

Saturday, Sept. 19, 8 p.m. 

Thursday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m. featuring real-time captioning for the deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons 

Friday, Sept. 25, 8 p.m. Ghostlight/Talkback with the cast and directors after the performance 

Saturday, Sept. 26, 8 p.m. 

Sunday, Sept. 27, 2:30 matinee 

Thursday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m. 

Friday, Oct. 2, 8 p.m. – Girls Night Out sponsored by Brewer Media with complimentary drinks and snacks 

Saturday, Oct. 3, 8 p.m. 

Sunday, Oct. 4, 2:30 pm – Closing performance
