Goals by Serena Smith and Kayla Deck helped the East Ridge girls soccer team to a 2-1 district 6A/AA win over Hixson Thursday night at Camp Jordan.
The win by East Ridge secures the top spot in the district with a 6-0 record. It was Hixson's first district loss.
Hixson's Karla Martinez scored mid-way through the second half the Lady Wildcats could not find the equalizer.
East Ridge's Morgan Montieth had nine saves in the goal. Sydney Rigler had three saves for Hixson.
"This was a tough game," East Ridge head coach Jeremy McIntyre said after the game. "Both teams played really hard. We scored in the first half and then early in the second half. It was nice to have a two point cushion."
McIntyre also praised his keeper Morgan Monteith.
"She had a very good game. She made some really good saves when we needed them most."
