Darrell Fearn, 41, was arrested for the shooting and attempted murder of Deed Carroll on Monday, after he was found standing over the victim with a gun pointed at him.

The police report says that the officer arrived at the 3800 block of Grace Avenue on a report about shots fired at 7:48 p.m. and found the defendant standing over the victim.

The officer reported that when he gave verbal commands to the defendant to drop the weapon, he instead passed it to his minor son who was standing nearby.

His son then began to flee with the gun in hand, followed by the officer. The officer said that the boy turned in his direction and threw it several feet beside him and the gun was retrieved.

An investigator who reported to interview the victim at Erlanger Hospital said that the victim had gone to the defendant’s home to speak with him about disrespecting his wife. He said that when Fearn came out, he cocked a gun.

The victim said that they began fighting and at one point he picked up a rock, but then put it down. He said that he was shot as he turned to leave after the argument.

Fearn corroborated that story saying he had nothing to hide. He said that he shot the victim after the victim made the statement that he could have shot the defendant at any time in the past.

Fearn’s bond was set at $150,000 for attempted first-degree murder.
