Federal Employees Lend A Helping Hand To 45 Agencies During Annual CFC Day Of Caring

  • Tuesday, September 22, 2015
Close to 700 federal employees will volunteer to help 45 local community organizations across the tristate region on Friday during the Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign 23rd Annual Day of Caring.

“The Day of Caring is a great opportunity for us as federal employees to show our support for many of the local nonprofit organizations that do so much to serve individuals and families in our community,” said Doug Perry, vice president of Financial Operations and Performance at the Tennessee Valley Authority and chair of the 2015 Chattanooga Area CFC.

“Getting our employees out serving in the community is a great way to build relationships with the organizations and people in our community who need our support,” said Mr.
Perry.

During the Day of Caring, Federal employees will provide hands-on assistance – such as painting, building, cleaning, landscaping and cooking for area non-profit service agencies that receive contributions from the CFC.

Each year, federal employees across the United States and overseas have the opportunity to contribute to the charitable organizations of their choice through the Combined Federal Campaign. Established more than 50 years ago as a result of President Kennedy’s efforts, the CFC has become the nation’s leading workplace giving program, raising more money for charity than any other annual employee-giving program.

The Greater Chattanooga Area CFC serves 21 counties in East Tennessee, Northeast Alabama, Northwest Georgia and Western North Carolina. Last year, Chattanooga area federal employees raised nearly $1.7 million for the campaign.
