William Shane Morris
William Shane Morris has been arrested after police said he came to a North Chattanooga party and pointed a handgun at a person at the residence.
Morris, 39, of Ringgold, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
In the incident early Sunday morning at 404 Thompson St. (near Barton Avenue), police said they were told by Daniel Travillian, Trevor Smith and Austin Suddeth there had been a disorder at the party and several people left.
They said about 30 minutes later Morris and his wife showed up looking for their 16-year-old son who had been involved in the disorder. They said Morris was brandishing a semi-automatic pistol in his right hand.
Suddeth said Morris pointed the gun in his face, while demanding the location of his son. Smith and Travillian said Morris and his wife approached the front door. They said the gun was not pointed at them, but Morris was still holding it and making demands for the whereabouts of his son.
Morris told police he was told that his son had been stabbed at the party.
Police said Morris had a Ruger pistol in his pocket. He said he did not have a permit to carry it.
Morris denied pointing the gun at Suddeth. Police said others at the party said he did point it.
