This year’s champions: Bowdle-O’Bannon
Lee University students filled Walker Arena to the brim to watch their roommates and friends compete in the highly-anticipated Dorm Wars 2016. Over 1,500 staff, faculty, students, and community guests watched the competitive event.
After all the events, the female residence hall Sharp-Davis emerged victorious and reclaimed the trophy after three years of defeat. Male residence hall Bowdle-O’Bannon came back from last year’s loss and took back the trophy from Medlin Hall.
The winning residence halls received a cash prize of $500 toward the non-profit of their choice. Sharp-Davis represented Habitat for Humanity and Bowdle-O’Bannon competed for the ANDOR program.
Coming in second and third place for the ladies were Cross-Tharp and Atkins-Ellis, respectively. Cross-Tharp represented Free2Fly and Atkins-Ellis represented New Hope Pregnancy Care Center. Medlin and B.L. Hicks came in second and third for the men. Medlin battled for the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland, while B.L. Hicks participated for The Salvation Army. Second and third place winners also receive a cash prize to donate to the service organization of choice.
The evening kicked off with choreographed dances from each residence hall. The routines are judged and awarded spirit points. Spirit points also come from cheers during the event and sportsmanship.
Dorm Wars continued with the three-legged race relay, a shopping cart relay, and an obstacle course relay. The evening ended with a comical faculty race.
