Boyd Buchanan girls’ soccer coach Todd Ledbetter preaches to set and reach goals and set school records.
Tuesday night, the host Bucs (14-5-0) captured a season-record 14th win with a 7-0 shutout of East Ridge (9-6) in a Region 3 A-AA semifinal, while CSAS edged Hixson, 2-1.
“We want to win all three titles this year – the district regular season (already won), the district tournament (won last Thursday) and a region crown,” said coach Ledbetter. “No Boyd Buchanan girls’ team has ever won the region, must less advance to the state.”
Emma Rogers led the way Tuesday with three goals, followed by Emily Hauke with two, while Lindsey Hunkapiller and Darryn Gould had one each. Assists went to Tate Gardenhire and Haleigh Isanhart. Ana Lafontaine posted the shutout for the Bucs.
“We were very efficient in the first half moving the ball (5-0 at intermission) and able to put the ball in front of the goal,” Ledbetter stated. “We want to give no team hope and want to keep the pressure on.”
