Elmore, Violet Juanita

Violet Juanita Elmore, 94of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in a local health care facility.      

She was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Chattanooga into a prominent family of pioneer settlers to the late Frank & Dolly Higdon. Mrs. Elmore was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1940. She was a former member of East Chattanooga Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Northside Community Church.  She had worked in the accounting departments of Provident Life Insurance Company, Miller Brothers, and Chattanooga Royal.  Mrs. Elmore was a founding charter member of the Chattanooga Doll Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Sholar Elmore, Sr.

Survivors include her son, Rex Sholar Elmore, Jr.; daughter, Sandra (Tom) Ryall both of Chattanooga; and grandchildren, Laura (Matt) Cole, Eric (Amanda) Ryall and Mary Loftin; great-grandchildren, Cooper Loftin, Garrett Loftin, Benjamin Cole and Phillip Cole.

The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 21 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Mitchell Reaves officiating.
