Mary Katherine Tate, 87, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Mrs. Tate was born in Chapel Hill, Tn., on March 24, 1929, to the late James and Genora Ramsey.  She was an Artist, and for many years was involved with various local art groups and galleries. At age 62, she earned her bachelor's degree from UTC with a 4.0 GPA. Katherine was a member of Clear Creek Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, George L. Tate; half brother, Jim Ramsey; and half sister, Marian Curry.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Miller (Dale); son, George Montgomery Tate (Jeanne); daughter, Lisa Longacre (Dan); grandchildren, Michelle Cole (Shane), Nicholas Quinn Miller (Danielle), Troy Tate (Maria), Seth Ramsey Miller (Tracy), Derik Tate (Marcie) Ian Longacre (Rachel), and Cara Sprinz (Derek);15 great-grandchildren, and sister, Dorothy Parker.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.

Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 3 p.m. on Sunday, followed by interment at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
