Mark Alton Mayfield
A man who carried out an armed robbery at Rite Aid on Paul Huff Parkway in Cleveland is now facing federal charges and has agreed to plead guilty.
Prosecutors said Mark Alton Mayfield will plead guilty to robbery and brandishing a firearm during a robbery.
He faces up to 20 years in prison on the robbery charge along with a consecutive seven-year sentence for the firearm offense.
Cleveland Police said the 50-year-old Mayfield had been released from prison in 2014 after serving time for aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and carjacking.
The holdup occurred at 9:51 p.m. when Mayfield forced the night pharmacist at gunpoint to hand over 435 Oxycodone pills.
Mayfield later said he carried out the robbery because he needed more pain pills.
Mayfield was charged in state court with aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon by a felon.
