A hearing for three former Ooltewah High School basketball players charged with aggravated rape and assault in an attack on a 15-year-old teammate has been delayed until March 15.
That court date is subject to change, officials said.
One of those charged has made bond, while two remain in custody in a juvenile facility.
Officials said no decision has been made on whether one or more of the youths will be charged as adults.
Authorities said there were actually four freshman team members who were sexually assaulted.
Family members of one youth said the 17-year-old inserted a pool cue into his rectum while the other two held him down. When he resisted, the pool cue broke off and he was seriously injured. He had to be hospitalized for over a week.
Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston brought charges of failure to file child abuse against coaches Andre Montgomery and Karl Williams and athletic director Jesse Nayadley. He has also summoned Supt. Rick Smith, Asst. Supt. Lee McDade, Secondary Education Director Steve Holmes and Ooltewah High Principal Jim Jarvis to a hearing in Juvenile Court on Feb. 15.
