Floricelda Mazariegos
Chattanooga Police arrested Floricelda Mazariegos, 32, for allegedly endangering three young children while riding drunk in a vehicle with an intoxicated driver.
On Friday afternoon, an officer followed a black Ford Mustang on Rossville Boulevard for having a busted rear window. The officer reported the car swerved in and out of different lanes and nearly struck a telephone pole.
He attempted to pull the car over, but the driver continued without stopping until eventually halting in the middle of the road on Calhoun Avenue.
Two young children were crying as the officer approached the car. Without being instructed, the driver stumbled out of the vehicle with blood covering her arms. The third small child was bleeding from the face.
EMS personnel arrived on the scene to examine the children’s injuries. According to the police report, the driver and passenger, who both spoke little English, had extremely slurred speech and reeked of alcohol.
When the passenger – identified as Ms. Mazariegos – stumbled out of the car, police said she was “extremely uncooperative, mouthy, and repeatedly refused to obey instructions throughout the entire traffic stop.”
EMS confirmed the children’s injuries were not serious.
The driver was Milda Mazariegos.
Floricelda Mazariegos was arrested on charges of DUI by consent, reckless endangerment, child abuse, and disorderly conduct.
She was placed on a bond of $12,000.
