House On North Orchard Knob Avenue Destroyed In Early Morning Fire

  • Wednesday, February 3, 2016
Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning at 1212 N. Orchard Knob Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, fire was already shooting through roof. A 69-year-old woman, the only resident in the house, told firefighters that she woke to the sound of "popping" coming from the bathroom. When she got up to investigate, the smoke alarm in the hallway activated.
The woman got out of the house unharmed and called 911.

With a large portion of the house already engulfed in flames, the damage was already done. Using deck guns from the apparatus and hand-held hoselines, it took firefighters with four fire companies roughly 40 minutes to get the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.

Captain Andy Waters with the fire investigation division said the cause of the fire is under investigation. Captain Waters said the loss is estimated at $100,000. Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS also provided assistance on the scene.
