Gregory Scott Sholtz, 25, was arrested for a carjacking Wednesday morning.

Chattanooga Police responded at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday to the 2000 block of Gunbarrel Road on the report of a carjacking. The victim, Michael Spector, 64, said that he was driving westbound on East Brainerd Road near Gunbarrel Road. He said that as he was approaching the intersection with Gunbarrel Road, Sholtz ran from the side of the road and approached his vehicle. Sholtz told the driver that he had been hit by a car and needed a ride to the Emergency Room.

Sholtz then opened the passenger door and jumped into the truck. He then began asking Mr. Spector to take him to Erlanger downtown. He then told him to get out of the truck. Sholtz began reaching towards his pants leg and told the victim he had a gun and would shoot him. He then left the area driving south on Gunbarrel Road in the victim's 2012 Dodge Ram 2500.

A short time later the Georgia State Patrol located the vehicle and pursued it. Georgia State Patrol was able to catch Sholtz, who is facing charges in Georgia. The vehicle was recovered by the Georgia State Patrol. Sholtz will be extradited to Tennessee following due process.
