Woodsongs Dalton Announces Concert For April 30

  • Wednesday, April 20, 2016

The WoodSongs Dalton 2016 Concert Series will host Michael and Jennifer McLain, featuring Dan Kelly, as well as the duo Mountain Creek House Fire at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Wink Theater in downtown Dalton.

Husband and wife, Michael and Jennifer McLain, both grew up touring and performing in musical families, are both banjo players, and have been playing together since their first date. Their concerts always include banjo music, but also feature vocals, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and upright bass.

They will be joined by Dan Kelly, who came to Nashville as a teenager to win the Grand Masters Fiddle Championship.  He performed many years on the Grand Ole Opry as part of Roy Acuff's Smoky Mountain Boys and is known for his appearances with the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band. Established as one of Nashville's most respected fiddlers, he has toured with Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Steve Wariner, and Clint Black.

Opening for the Michael and Jennifer McLain will be Mountain Creek House Fire, a regional singer-songwriter duo made up of the multi-instrumentalist Pattee Wilbanks and guitarist Robert Lovett. "Known for their poignant and well crafted lyrics, Wilbanks and Lovett have injected a breath of fresh air into the Chattanooga Americana music scene," organizers said.

This regionally acclaimed concert series features emerging and established performers. The final concert will be held at the Wink Theater on Crawford Street in downtown Dalton. The concert series is sponsored in part by the Downtown Dalton Development Authority and the Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Proceeds from the concert series benefit Providence Ministries, a non-profit organization that operates a women's and children's shelter, homeless shelters, three thrift stores, and a substance abuse treatment program.

Tickets for the April 30 concert are available at the Dalton Freight Depot Gift Shop, online and at the door. Advance tickets are $15 and $18 at the door.  Visit http://woodsongsdalton.com, email woodsongsdalton@yahoo.com, or call 706-581-8025 for more information.
