Joe Massengill, 46, and Demarketh King, 27, were shot on Thursday afternoon, and two suspects have been arrested.
Then early Friday morning, a 38-year-old man was shot outside his residence on Wimberly Drive as a string of gang violence in Chattanooga continued unabated..
Chattanooga Police responded at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday to the 4400 block of Highway 58 on the report of shots fired. Police located one victim suffering from a minor injury. Original reports indicated that the shooting was occurring at Food City. Secondary reports indicated that the shooting was occurring at Las Margaritas.
Investigations determined that the actual incident occurred at the 5000 block of Oakhill Road. Witnesses reported that the suspect left the area of the 4400 block of Highway 58 in a white Chevy Impala.
Chattanooga Police officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle at a residence near the incident on Swan Road. Chattanooga Police officers, Chattanooga Violent Crimes Bureau investigators, and Chattanooga K9 officers responded to the residence on Swan Road in an attempt to locate the alleged suspect.
Two suspects were detained at this residence and were transported to the Chattanooga Police Service Center for questioning. One victim was located suffering from a minor injury which required no medical treatment, and another victim was located uninjured.
Chattanooga Violent Crimes Bureau investigators interviewed both of the suspects. Probable cause sufficient for the issue of arrest warrants was developed on both suspects and both were arrested and booked into the Hamilton County Jail.
The first suspect was identified as Rashad C. Davis, 19, and he was charged with aggravated assault, attempted first-degree murder, felony reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
The second suspect was identified as Christopher Green, 20, and he was charged with aggravated assault, attempted first-degree murder, felony reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
In the second incident at 12:50 a.m., the Chattanooga Police Department responded to the 6200 block of Wimberly Drive on a report of a person shot. There police located one victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The victim, Desmond Clay, was outside of his residence when he was shot.
He was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS.
Police said his injury is non-life threatening.
Suspects are described as two black males, one with dreads.
