U.S. Army Veteran Retired From Snap-On Tools

Roland G. Recchia, 79,  of Ooltewah, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in a local hospital.  

He was born Jan. 20, 1937 in Philadelphia, to the late Armando and Lucy Recchia.

Mr. Recchia was a 1955 graduate of Philadelphia Academy and was a United States Army Veteran.  He retired from Snap-On Tools after many years of service.   

Mr. Recchia enjoyed volunteering for the Riverbend Festival.  He was a member of Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church and was actively involved in Sonrise Pageants.  

His son, Gregory Recchia and brother, Ugo Recchia preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gloria M. Recchia; three children, Dan (Renée) Recchia of Ooltewah; Jim (Becky) Recchia of Clearwater, Fl.; RuthAnn (Dwight) Gilmore of McDonald, Tn.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Recchia of Hallandale Beach, Fl.; one sister, Lillian Gray of Walnutport, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Jaclyn (Justin) Galbraith of Ooltewah, Philip (Molly) Recchia of Ooltewah, Marc Recchia of Chattanooga, Nathan Recchia of Ooltewah, Nevin Recchia of Ooltewah, Mitchell Gilmore of Chattanooga, and Danielle (Avery) Hamilton of Cleveland; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Galbraith of Ooltewah, and Cameron Hamilton of Cleveland.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.  

Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel. Burial with military honors will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m. Grandsons will serve as both active and honorary pallbearers.
