Samuel James Condra, 57, of Jasper, TN died Friday, April 8, 2016 in a Chattanooga hospital.

The son of the late Albert Cleveland “AC” and Mary Glenndean Henderson Condra, he was a 1976 graduate of Marion County High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  He was a member of Jasper Cumberland Presbyterian Church and attended McKendree United Methodist Church in Jasper.

 

Sam was an very active volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Marion County and worked for over 26 years at Marion County Farm Bureau.  He was an avid gardener and was known for his wit, generous nature and sense of humor, but his favorite activity was being a devoted “PopPop” to Ryan and Sam.

 

Sam is survived by his children, Kirby (Lee) Kitchen of Rossville, GA and Alex Condra of Jasper, TN; grandchildren, Ryan and Sam Kitchen; wife, Sandy P. Condra of Jasper, TN; brother, Glen (Jaime) Condra of Gulfport, MS; nephews, Nate & Ian Condra; dear friend, Ella Bell Yancey of Jasper; dear cousin, Kathy Bridges of Sacramento, CA; and a host of other friends and loved ones.

 

The family will receive friends for visitation at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper, TN on Monday, April 11 from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Central time and on Tuesday, April 12, from 1-3 p.m. at McKendree United Methodist Church in Jasper.

 

A memorial service will be held at McKendree United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 12, at 3 p.m. Central Time with Reverend Joseph Manis, Sr. officiating.

 

Sam adamantly requested that no flowers be sent.  In lieu of flowers, he requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or by visiting www.stjude.org/tribute.
