A group of children climbed the fence at the Carver Youth and Family Development Center on Sunday night, and a seven-year-old suffered a "near drowning." Police said the child was rescued when passersby saw him unconscious in the pool.
He was in critical condition at Children's Hospital.
At
8:16 p.m. Hamilton County 911 was contacted concerning a possible drowning.
Hamilton County 911 dispatched fire and police to there area.
Fire and police arrived on scene within minutes.
When Officer Patrick Cavanaugh arrived on scene, two firefighters were already climbing over the fence to get into the pool area, while another attempted to cut the lock off of one of the gates. Officer Cavanaugh immediately joined the climb over the fence and assisted the firefighters as they attempted to give CPR to the victim.
Hamilton County EMS also responded, and after several minutes of CPR, they chose to transport the victim to a local hospital.
Officers at the scene spoke with three individuals, who advised that they were walking by the pool and saw the victim unconscious in the pool, so they climbed the fence and pulled him out.
Police said multiple children reportedly climbed the fence to the pool.
