Joseph Howard
Joseph McClure Howard, 82, of Hixson, Tn., died on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at home with his family, after fighting illness for several years.
He was of the Methodist faith and attended Fairview Methodist Church. He went to Soddy-Daisy High School and McKenzie/Chattanooga State College for engineering. He attended college after serving in the Air Force. He retired from the Orange Grove Center after 30 years of loyal service as the Chief Engineering Supervisor and Chief Maintenance officer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Cornelia Howard; brothers, John C. Howard Jr. and Morgan C. Howard Sr.; and sister, Lucille Hitdon.
Survivors include his loving family. His children, Brigetta Nethery, Lee Ann Bennett (Wesley), Joseph “Jody” Howard (Connie); his grandchildren, Ashley Cross Moore (Patrick), Christina Cross Wilson (Ben), Laura Nethery Adams (Aaron), Chloe Howard and Jordan Howard; mother of his children, Mona Sue Charlesworth; brother, Connie M. Howard of Soddy-Daisy; sister, Barbara Gentry of Sale Creek; as well as 3 great grandchildren.
His love for his family is included with his passion for animals. He loved warm weather and the outdoors; most of all golf. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at the funeral home, with Rev Braxton Cotton presiding; burial to follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at the funeral home.
