The public is invited to join Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, Wild South, and Defenders of Wildlife for a screening of Roshan Patel’s documentary Red Wolf Revival followed by the short film How Wolves Change Rivers on Thursday at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Ave. in Signal Mountain. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the screening at 7:15 p.m.
"These films highlight both the importance of the wolf as an apex predator in maintaining ecological balance and the current state of the Red Wolf as the most endangered mammal in North America and the 8th most endangered mammal in the world," organizers said.
Following the films, Duke University trained scientist and Defenders of Wildlife Southeast Program Director Ben Prater will lead a discussion regarding what actions can be taken to help protect Red Wolves. Tish Gailmard, director of Wildlife for Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, will also give an update on the organization's red wolf pups and talk about Reflection Riding’s role in the Red Wolf Species Survival Plan.
Those interested may RSVP to Avery Patten at apatten@reflectionriding.org or by calling 423-821-1160 ext. 111.
