Roger Stevens
Roger Stevens, 24, was arrested on Friday on several warrants after burglarizing two cars in April and using stolen debit cards to make a number of purchases, police said.
Victim Johnna Thibaudeau told officers on April 9 that $340 worth of items, along with $40 cash, her driver’s license, social security card, and debit card were taken from her vehicle. She reported shortly after that her debit card was used at several Georgia locations, at the Hixson Wal-Mart for $109.85, the Hixson Chick-Fil-A for $23.99, the Hixson Tobacco Outlet for $133.99, the Hixson Best Buy for $491.61, and the Hixson Target for $153.44.
Police said they pulled video from the Target and Best Buy in Hixson and noticed the same male and female together making a purchase, along with two other males in the Best Buy during the transaction.
Police also said they located a case where the same male and female from the Target were using cards from another auto burglary that occurred at the Ace Hardware on Broad Street. In this case, victim Cara Cameron told officers that someone took her purse and three pairs of shoes valued at $630 from her vehicle. She reported she was missing her identification, debit card, and a Target gift card.
Ms. Cameron also reported that her debit card was used on the same date after the theft at the East Brainerd Mapco for $43.00 and the East Brainerd Dollar General for $70.50. The male and female left in a black Dodge Ram which was captured on video. The card was also used in Georgia.
After posting video and photos of the male and female on Facebook, both victims received messages that the male was Stevens. Officers matched the photos of the suspect and the Dodge Ram to photos of Stevens and a truck on his Facebook page.
The defendant has been charged with two counts of burglary of an auto, nine counts of theft of property, seven counts of theft of identity, seven counts of forgery, and one count of criminal conspiracy.
