Marvin Glaser
The children and grandchildren of Marvin Edward Glaser, of Chattanooga, would like to openly express our love and appreciation for a man who has been quietly guiding us the past 58 years. Husband to Dianne Elizabeth Jackson, father of seven children and grandfather to 15 grandchildren, his death on July 16, 2016, has deprived us of his thoughtful insight.
A Sigma Chi graduate of the University of Cincinnati School of Art and Design, Marvin began his career at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville creating air brush illustrations and scale model representations of Wernher von Braun’s Saturn V rockets. He spent most of his career as an executive with ProGroup generating award winning, nationally recognized advertising and design for Arnold Palmer and Tony Trabert sporting products.
He was a lifetime fan of Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain and the Chicago Cubs. Strength, humor and endless optimism were valuable qualities to possess when dealing with the perils of raising 7 children. He also illustrated his wife Dianne’s Amber Wellington book series, started running marathons after the age of 40, coached little league baseball, helped everyone with their school math problems, and created beautifully designed customized birthday and holiday cards for his family. He was a calming influence in what was often a hectic household overflowing with teenagers, pets, musical instruments, and school projects. He did what all good husbands and fathers try to do by providing for his wife, children, and grandchildren a home where everyone felt safe, healthy, happy and loved. We will miss his dignity, reserve and counsel. His kindness and spirit remain with us.
Surviving him are his children, Tamara (Michael) Salter, Sean (Anna) Glaser, Carey Glaser, Dane Glaser, Amber (Daryle) Beam, Quinn Glaser, Tristan (Shuvon) Glaser, his sister Nancy (Tom) Ciskowski and the 15 grandchildren he adored.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staff of Grace Home Primary Care and Erlanger East Hospital for their caring expertise and professionalism.
The family will hold a private memorial in celebration of his life. If friends of the family wish to honor his memory, these causes have been close to our hearts over the years: Hospice of Chattanooga, Habitat for Humanity, Chattanooga Brain Injury Association and the Ronald McDonald House.
