Town Of Monteagle Receives Certificate Of Achievement For Excellence In Financial Reporting

  • Wednesday, August 24, 2016

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada is awarding the Town of Monteagle a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2015. This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents "a significant accomplishment by a government and its management."

"This award is a result of the dedication of a town’s Mayor, Council, Town Recorder, Accounting Firm and Auditors working together to ensure that town finances are being managed to the highest standards possible," officials said. "The GFOA ensures that the CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel of peers and that it meets the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive 'Spirit of Full Disclosure'clearly communicating the town’s financial story. Residents may see improvements across the town, and some awards/grants but they perhaps don’t connect that to the great financial management that makes the town success possible and the team that is responsibility for this work. The GFOA appreciate the dedication put forth in the pursuit of transparent financial reporting."

“I am honored that we have received the GOFA for 3 consecutive years.   I would like to thank my team for their hard work. Also, I want to thank GOFA for presenting us with this notable award.  We will schedule and announce a formal presentation ceremony in September,“ said Mayor Rodman.
