Special Event Street Closures And Information For Sept. 15-18

Thursday -

Coker Tire Challenge: Road closures for this event will be from 6 a.m. on Thursday until 4 p.m. on Sunday, and include Fort Street from W. 13th Street to W. 14th Street and W. 14th Street from Fort Street to Chestnut Street. The event showcases several antique cars and other entertainment during the weekend. 

Friday -

BRAG US Bicycle Route 21: No road closures for this event, but motorists are advised to watch for cyclists in the road from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

as they ride from Finley Stadium to the new Riverwalk extension, up to Broad Street and then onto St. Elmo Avenue where they will continue down to Atlanta. 

Trail of Tears Commemorative Ride: No road closures for this event, but motorists are advised to watch for motorcycles departing Ross's Landing at 3 p.m., when the ride will begin heading down Broad Street and leaving town on Cummings Highway. 

Park(ing) Day: No road closures for this event, but several metered parking spaces along the 700-900 blocks of Market Street and the 100-300 blocks of East MLK Boulevard will be transformed into a variety of creative parklets. Saturday -

Go!Fest: No road closures, but visitors of all abilities will go wild for a free day at the Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park during the 12th Annual Go!Fest Celebration on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Animal attractions and interactions abound, but breaking boundaries and increasing disability awareness are at the heart of Go!Fest, which also will showcase activities, entertainment and information from various social service agencies and other civic-minded groups, businesses and institutions.Go!Fest is part of an initiative created to help make Chattanooga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability. A Walk for Cammy’s Cause: One eastbound and westbound lane will be closed on Riverfront Parkway from 7:30-10:40 a.m. for the Mary Cameron Robinson Foundation's 11th annual fundraiser, “A Walk for Cammy’s Cause,” in memory of Mary Cameron (Cammy) Robinson. This year, the event will feature a 5k Run/Walk with a 1 mile fun walk option.

Salomon CityTrail Race: Chestnut Street between W. 17th Street and W. 19th Street will be closed from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This City Trail concept is to maximize running off roads as much as possible and to learn to run safely in the city, in concert with the vehicles. Unlike road races, the City Trail races are not on the roads but rather in the alleys, on sidewalks, stairs and parks. 

Trail of Tears Memorial Ride: Reggie White Boulevard from the entrance to the First TN Pavilion to W. 19th Street will be closed from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for this memorial ride. The purpose of this ride is to provide funding for education, scholarships, the promotion of the Trail of Tears, develop historical sites along the route and other education endeavors. 

Women's Oncology Warriors: Walnut Street from East Aquarium Way to E. 3rd Street, as well as one eastbound lane of Frazier Avenue between Market Street and the Walnut Street Bridge, will be closed from noon-3 p.m. for this 5K Run/1-Mile Walk that begins in Coolidge Park. This is a fundraiser for the Women's Oncology Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, aiming to improve the lives of individuals in Chattanooga battling women's cancer. 

Sunday -

Church Without Walls: Woodmore Lane between Drummond Drive and Woodmore Circle will be closed from 7a.m.-3 p.m. for an outdoor church service and picnic. 

Chattanooga 9/11 Heroes Run: Closures for this event include Collins Street between E. 3rd Street and E. 5th Street, Oak Street between Houston Street and Lindsay Street, as well as single lane closures on E. 3rd Street between Collins Street and Central Avenue, Central Avenue between E. 3rd Street and McCallie Avenue, E. 5th Street from Lansing Street to Collins Street. The 9/11 Heroes Run 5k +1M fun run/walk welcomes runners and walkers of all levels and of all ages. 

Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb; East 8th Street, from Cherry Street to Market Street will be closed from 7-9 a.m. for this event. The Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair climb is a way for firefighters and members of the community to honor and remember the 343 firefighters lost on 9/11/2001.

Chattanooga Market: Reggie White Boulevard will be closed from the entrance to the skate park to 19th Street on Sunday from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. for the largest producer-only public market in the region.  Shoppers will find fresh locally-grown produce, breads, arts and more.
