It's all about getting ready for the postseason tournaments in volleyball and that's probably why the Chattanooga Christian Lady Chargers went to Manchester this weekend for the Lady Raiders Southern Slam at Coffee County High School.
It was a productive weekend for the Lady Chargers as they won three of four matches in pool play before winning two more in the Gold Bracket play, only to get beat by Eagleville in the championship match by scores of 27-25 and 25-21.
Earlier wins came against Lawrence County by scores of 28-30, 25-12 and 15-10, Middle Tennessee Christian by scores of 25-16 and 25-21 and Fellowship Christian by scores of 25-5 and 25-8. The lone loss in pool play came against Eagleville by scores of 25-23, 22-25 and 15-13.
CCS posted wins over Coffee County and Warren County before losing to Eagleville again in the championship match.
A.J. Johnson had 54 kills and 24 digs for the tournament while Cassie Curry had 52 kills, 22 digs and 15 aces. Rachel Kay had 85 assists while Anna Linkous contributed 62 digs. Grace Logterman was also outstanding with 12 kill, 14 aces and 13 blocks.
The Lady Chargers are now 15-17 for the season,
