Joyce Lucile Joiner Wynne, 99, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Valley View Assisted Living in Whitwell, Tennessee.
The daughter of the late Wylie Joiner and Lora Joiner Partin, she was a former employee of Hershell Matthews Grocery and the South Pittsburg Knitting Mill. She was the oldest member of the South Pittsburg First Baptist Church, where she joined in June 1937 and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Lucile was actively involved with her church friends and activities and enjoyed yardwork and gardening, handcrafts, keeping Ken and Shirley’s dog, Lucky, cooking, going out to eat with friends, spoiling all the children in her life and helping others.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, George B. Wynne; son, Ken Wynne; stepson, GT Wynne; and siblings, Lillie Wynne, Polly Crownover, George Joiner, William Partin, Chesley Partin and Bertha Partin Rackler.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Karen Wynne of Boston, MA and Steve (Donna) Wynne of Hayes, VA; daughter-in-law, Shirley Wynne of Kimball, TN; great-grandchildren, Kenny Wynne and Brad Wynne; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, Jere Don Cockrell and family and Pauline Johnson.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Valley View Assisted Living for their loving care of Mrs. Wynne.
Funeral services will be conducted at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Central time on Sunday, Sept. 11, with Reverend Ronnie Case officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, from noon Central time until service time at the funeral home.
