Police Blotter: Intoxicated Alabama Fan Threatens To Kill Clerk Who Dropped His Change; Heart-Broken Girlfriend Takes Revenge

A clerk at the Mapco on East Brainerd Road said a white male wearing an Alabama ball cap threatened to "kick his a--."

The clerk said he dropped the customer's change, causing the Tide fan to become angry.

In addition to saying he was going to beat him up for dropping the change, he said he was going to kill him in the process. He told the clerk he would be back at 10 p.m. The customer then left.

The clerk said the man, who was driving a white Ford truck with Pipe Supply on the side, "appeared to be drunk."

A woman said her checkbook was stolen and the thief immediately began cashing her checks.

They included $24.25 at Shell Gas Station(unknown location)-1245hrs, $436.99 at Target(Gunbarrel Rd)-1252hrs, and $23.10 at Burger King(unknown location).

Police responded to the Walmart on Signal Mountain Road on reports of a shoplifter who was no longer on the scene. A loss prevention officer showed police video footage of a black female taking 10 phone cases and concealing them in her purse. She then walked beyond all points of sales and beyond the exit doors without paying.

The woman also covered her face when she walked past the camera at the exit door.

Police spoke with the loss prevention manager at Marshall's. She said that she observed the suspect and her friend select several items of clothing and put them into bags. The suspect then went to the counter and returned the items. When loss prevention tried to stop the suspects they refused to come back inside the store. The store took the name off of the suspect's Tennessee driver's license. When police showed the store employee the driver's license photo she positively identified the suspect. A warrant was taken out for theft under $500.

 Police were dispatched to 490 Greenway View Dr. on a shoplifting call at Walmart. Police spoke with a loss prevention agent who reported that he observed Mary Brown select merchandise, put the merchandise into a Walmart bag, and then attempt to leave the store without paying. Ms. Brown was issued a citation and released without further incident. The total value of recovered merchandise is $123.75.

Another officer responded to a shoplifting call at the Walmart on Highway 153. An employee said he observed Jasiara Seymore put merchandise worth $50.09 in plastic bags at the check out counter without scanning the items. She then tried to leave the store without paying for the clothes. Ms. Seymore was given a citation in lieu of arrest for theft under $500 and released.

Police responded to a shoplifting call at 5958 Snow Hill Road (Publix). An employee said Timothy Daniel was seen selecting merchandise and concealing it. He then passed all points of sale without paying. Total amount taken was $87.20. Daniel was issued a citation in lieu of arrest for theft under $500.

A woman at an apartment on Sunflower Lane said while she was upstairs she heard a noise downstairs in her living room. She went down to check and noticed that her back door had been forced open and was broken. Nothing was stolen.

While working an extra job as security at Hamilton Place Mall, an officer was notified by a loss prevention specialist at Belks that he needed to take a warrant out on a female named Butman for theft over $1,000. He said he observed Ms. Butman enter a fitting room with several items, place all the items on her person, and leave the store without paying for the items. Ms. Butman was confronted by Belks loss prevention and she was able to flee the area by vehicle. The total value of the theft was $1,690.00. The incident was captured on video. A warrant was taken out on Ms. Butman.

A man said when a female friend found another woman at his apartment it "broke her heart." She responded to the heartbreak by knocking the mirrors off the door of his 1997 gold Mercedes. She also broke out the tail lights, scratched the paint all the way around the vehicle and tossed a rock through the windshield. The upset former girlfriend was arrested.

Police were dispatched to an address on E. 18th St. on a call of a carjacking shortly before midnight. An Hispanic man said he had arrived at the residence to pay a worker. He said three men wearing all black and with full face masks approached north up Watauga Street. One pulled out a pistol while another drew a long gun. They pointed the weapons at the two men and started shouting at them. The pair responded by running around the house to try to get away from the robbers. When they went back out front, the three robbers and the man's red 1996 Toyota Fourrunner were gone. Police said the investigation was hindered by the fact that the vehicle was not registered to the victim and the victim did not have any identification.
