Marquis McReynolds, 25, and Jermichael Brooks, 23, were arrested after a police chase on Monday.

A task force including the ATF, FBI, and Chattanooga Police Department officers pursued a stolen vehicle. That pursuit resulted in a traffic crash and the arrest of two convicted felons.

The pursuit began at 5200 Highway 58 just after 7 p.m.
after police were notified of suspicious activity behind B&M Autosports. When a city officer attempted to question the pair in a gray Honda Accord the vehicle took off. It was found that the 2016 model had been stolen the night before from Mountain View Nissan.

The vehicle went along Shallowford Road at an extremely high rate of speed with patrol cars to the rear. It got onto Highway 153 and continued the high speeds before exiting at Jersey Pike. It went through an intersection, almost hitting another vehicle.

The stolen car then went through a grassy area and back onto Highway 153 where it traveled at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Police said, "During the entire incident, the driver had utter disregard for the safety of other motorists and citizens."

The driver ran multiple stop signs and red lights and multiple vehicles were forced off the road, it was stated.

During the chase the stolen vehicle was involved in three crashes. The pursuit ended with the third and final crash at 2200 Monroe St., where the driver of the suspect vehicle lost control and went into a ditch.

The two suspects were extracted from the crashed vehicle and taken into custody. Two weapons were found in the vehicle.

A police vehicle pursuing the suspect vehicle was also involved in the final crash. There was minor damage to civilian vehicles struck by the suspect vehicle.

Federal charges will be pursued on both suspects, authorities said.

McReynolds, of 409 Alice Dr., is charged with theft over $10,000, evading arrest, stop sign violation, traffic control violation, reckless driving, speeding, failing to yield, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, driving on a revoked license, and not having insurance.

Brooks, of 9329 Somerset Dr., Ooltewah, was booked on a probation violation.
