Dalton State Golf Sweeps Top 3, Defends Title At Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate

The #2-ranked Dalton State Men's Golf team swept the top three positions individually as they successfully defended their title at the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate, firing a final round (E, 288) at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn. on Tuesday. Dalton State would finish as the only team under par for the tournament at (-7, 569).

Cumberlands (Ky.), (+30, 606), finished in second, followed by #19 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), (+31, 607), in third.
#25 William Carey (Miss.), (+32, 608), and Maryville College, (+37, 613), rounded out the top 5.


RECAP
All-American S.M. Lee and senior Chase Cole ended regulation tied for the top spot at (-2) and headed for a playoff. Lee would birdie the first hole to take individual medalist honors. On the day, Lee would fire a (-3, 69), while Cole carded another (-1, 71).

All-American P.J. Shields and sophomore Sport Allmond tied for third to give the Roadrunners a clean sweep of the top three positions individually. Shields slipped from the overnight lead, but posted an impressive round of (+3, 75) to hold on to a top 5 finish. Allmond carded a (+2, 74) to solidify his top 5 finish.

Senior Dalton Johnson rebounded from a tough day on Monday to post the last counting score of the day for the Roadrunners, a (+2, 74).

FALL FINALE
The Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate concludes the abbreviated fall season for the #2-ranked Roadrunners. They will take the winter off before play starts up again in 2018 as Dalton State eyes its first national title.
