Dalton State To Host Meet The Candidates Event To Encourage Voting

  • Thursday, October 5, 2017

The public has a chance meet those running in the upcoming local election during Dalton State College’s Meet the Candidates Event in the Pope Student Center on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 6-9 p.m. There will also be an opportunity to register to vote.

“We are hoping this event will encourage participants to vote locally, but also make more informed voting decisions,” said Heather Williams, organizer of the event.

Ms. Williams is an assistant director for leadership and civic engagement for the college.

All local candidates are invited to participate. Those scheduled to attend include candidates seeking office in the state House of Representatives, the Dalton City Council, Dalton School Board, and the Cohutta Town Council.

This event is hosted by the Dean of Students Office and Students Advocating for Volunteer Efforts.

For more information, contact the Dean of Students Office at 706 272-4428.
