Lewis, William "David" Sr. (Chickamauga)

SSgt. William “David” Lewis, Sr., 77, of Chickamauga, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga Area and was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, who will be greatly missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John David Lewis and Susie Lee Maxwell and son, John Willis Lewis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Virginia Lewis; daughter, Faith Lewis; son, William David Lewis, Jr.; stepchildren, Maj. Christopher Firestone, Chris Stoker, Karen Carr and Angela Stoker; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Ronnie Millican and Brother Joe Lee officiating. Interment will follow in The Chattanooga National Cemetery, with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. on Sunday, all day on Monday, and prior to the service on Tuesday.
