Senator David Perdue on Thursday applauded the Agriculture Committee’s vote of support for his first cousin, former Georgia Governor, George Ervin “Sonny” Perdue III, to be the next U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.
“As I’ve said since the night of his nomination, Sonny is the most qualified person to be the Secretary of Agriculture," said Senator Perdue.
“I am pleased to see such broad bipartisan support from the members of the Agriculture Committee.”
“Given my relationship to the governor, please let the record show I was present but declined to participate, and I look forward to the Senate confirmation of Governor Perdue," said Senator Perdue during the committee meeting.
The Senate Agriculture Committee confirmed Governor Perdue on Thursday by voice vote. Governor Perdue now awaits a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
