Adults 50+ are invited to join Boomers, Shakers, and Beyond to learn about ID theft prevention from Sergeant Wayne Jefferson Jr. from the Chattanooga Police Department. The free program will be held on March 20 at 1 p.m. in the Youth Center at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road (across from Publix).
Sgt. Jefferson will explain the different types of identity theft and what criminals do to obtain your personal information. He will also share tips and tactics that can help protect yourself and your family from identify theft.

Jefferson has 21 years of law enforcement experience, all served with the Chattanooga Police Department. Since 2003 he has been the advisor for the Chattanooga Police Explorer program. In 2006 he won Officer of the Year. In 2010 he was transferred to Grants/Special Projects division. Sgt. Jefferson is now supervisor over Crime Prevention, Community Outreach, PIO, and The Police Explorer Program.
"Boomers, Shakers, and Beyond is a community enrichment program designed for adults 50+ focusing on mind, body, and spirit. The program is designed for learning new things, enhancing old skills, exchanging thoughts on numerous topics, meeting new people, participating in community service projects, and in general having a great time," officials said.
