McCallie students performed well at the Tennessee Chess Association Region 2 Team Chess Tournament, winning two region championships and sending three teams to the state finals.
McCallie students won titles at the high school and elementary levels and had a strong showing in the junior high tournament.
Eighth-grader Daniel Jeong, seventh-grader Sonny Ravinder and sixth-grader Henry Veys won the High School section with a perfect score of 4.0.
Henry also competed with fellow sixth-graders James Bechtol, Nasi Rahman and Stoney Wingfield in winning the Elementary Section with another perfect score of 4.0.
In the Junior High section, eighth-grader Andrew Haun and seventh-grader Rahul Patel teamed with Sonny and Daniel for a solid fouth-place finish.
All three teams advance to the state finals which will be held March 25 at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tn.
