Defending D-II AA state champion Baylor defeated host McCallie, 6-1, Tuesday to win the D-II Middle/Est Region.
The victorious Red Raiders won the doubles point (2-1) and then claimed five of six singles, including three, 3-setters for the title.
“We have had some injuries this season, but we have worked on our conditioning and it showed today in the long 3-set matches,” said Baylor coach Ned Caswell.
McCallie coach Jeff Clark said, “This was a winnable match for us as we had opportunities to win all three, set matches in singles.
But hats off to Baylor as they won most of the big points in those matches.”
