Anderson, Polly Pickel (Decatur)

Polly Pickel Anderson, 90 , of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Maple Court Assisted Living in Powell, Tn.

She was a member of Decatur United Methodist Church and a former Meigs County Circuit Court Clerk. She was active in United Methodist Women’s Group of Decatur and Athens. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, knitting, and playing cards. 

She was preceded in death by parents, T. T. and Ruby Benefield Brooks; son, John Tallan; brothers, Bill Brooks, Cotton Brooks; sister, Charlene Hill; and granddaughter, Laura Reese. 

Survivors include her sons, Pete Tallant (Trish) of Florida, Rev. Alvin Tallant (Sandy) of Kingston, Tn.; daughter, Gielda Reese (Tom) of Oak Ridge; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Diane Tallant and several nieces and nephews and dear friends will miss her.  

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 23, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Reverend Alvin Tallant officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur, Tn.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
