The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team earned a 1-1 draw at Tennessee Tech Friday night in a preseason scrimmage in Cookeville, Tenn.
Freshman Chloe Arnold (Bristol, Tenn.) scored the Mocs’ lone goal, tying the match 1-1 in the 54th minute. She stole a pass from the Golden Eagles and beat the keeper, dribbling the ball around her in the box.
Chattanooga was outshot 11-8 by TTU with Arnold, sophomore Catherine Meyer (Hendersonville, Tenn.), sophomore Jordan Mueller (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and senior Emily Moseley (Nashville, Tenn.) each taking two.
Both of Arnold’s shots were on goal with Mueller and Moseley getting one each.
Sophomore Melia Correa (Clarksville, Tenn.) got the start in goal for Chattanooga. She made four saves on seven shots in the first half with one goal against. Sophomore Bailey Coppedge (Collierville, Tenn.) saw just four shots come her way and made three saves.
Mayra Manzanal scored the Golden Eagles’ goal on a header off a free kick by Karigan Owens. Kari Naerdemann played all 90 minutes in the net for TTU, making three saves. TTU had six corner kicks to none for Chattanooga.
Since it was a preseason scrimmage, no overtime was played.
Chattanooga will travel to Belmont for a Sunday late afternoon matchup in Nashville.
