The Montessori School announced that students will celebrate the International Day of Peace on Sept. 21.
According to the Center for Mindful Living, “The International Day of Peace is an annual reminder to stand together in our common humanity and focus on the things that unite us - the love each of us has for our families, our community, and our nation.”
As part of its curriculum, The Montessori School teaches peace through communication, reconciliation, sharing, and caring. Day of Peace activities will include the installation and celebration of a Peace Pole on campus. All students will gather on the lawn and form a peace sign while singing, “Teaching Peace.” Students and their families are also attending “Paths to Peace,” an event organized by the Center for Mindful Living.
“Paths to Peace” will be held at Coolidge Park on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 3-7 p.m. and will include art activities, labyrinth walks, prayer vigils, kids activities, yoga, and food trucks.
