In response to the letter that commended the county commissioners for not responding to fear by voting for a tax increase, I have to ask.....do you seriously believe the local public schools will benefit significantly from the additional money paid in to county coffers?
Same song, 19th verse.
The trite, worn-out, and empty song and dance plea for tax increases for "schools" is so old it brings laughter.....how many times have taxes been increased for "the schools" and then 'the schools" have continued to experience the same problems....leaky roofs, inoperable A/C systems, crowding, etc.
Why did the county commissioners not have the honesty to simply tell Hamilton County property owners that the increase is to pay for WWTA's new sewer plant and leave "the schools" out of the lame argument?
Seems I heard at least one county commissioner tell a community group recently that there would not be a tax increase because of the new property assessments.
Foolishly, I actually thought he might be telling the truth.
Again, same song, 20th verse this time.
