#2-ranked Dalton State set a new 18-hole scoring record of (-13, 275) on Tuesday, completing an amazing comeback in winning the Thomas University Fall Invitational at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga. The Roadrunners would finish with a tournament total of (-12, 564) and tie #20 Coastal Georgia for the tournament title.
#14 USC-Beaufort (-5), #8 Keiser (-1), and SCAD-Savannah (+9) rounded out the top 5.
All-American S.M. Lee had another great day on the course, firing a closing round 7-under, 65 for the Roadrunners to finish second overall. With the round, Lee would tie his own 18-hole school record at (-7). Chase Cole would climb up the leaderboard to sixth after a (-3, 69). Sport Allmond, Dylan Mostert, and Ben Rebne each shot (-1, 71) on the record setting round.
"This is one of the more impressive rounds of golf I have seen being a coach," said Coach Ben Rickett. "The guys dug themselves into a bit of a hole yesterday and we had a hill to climb today. This shows the character of this group because these are situations that get us ready for May."
The #2 Roadrunners will be back on the course on Monday, Oct. 2, when they tee it up in the USCB Innisbrook Invitational from famed Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor Fla.
