Course For Ironman Swim/Bike/Run For Saturday (Women), Sunday (Men)

Swim

The swim will start and finish at Ross’s Landing. Athletes can expect a challenging swim course as they set off in a clockwise direction across the Tennessee River. After making a right turn at the first buoy, athletes will swim up river 860 meters before ferrying across and back down to Ross’s Landing.

 

Bike

 

The bike course takes riders 5 miles south of town before beginning the 3.5 mile climb up Lookout Mountain on Ochs Highway.

Athletes can expect incredible views as they ride along the top of Lookout Mountain before a quick decent down Hwy 136 before turning to head back north. As athletes near the end of the loop they will get the opportunity to ride through historic Chickamauga before making the final stretch back into downtown Chattanooga. Total elevation gain for the ride is 3442 feet/1049 meters.

Left onto Lookout Mountain Scenic Hwy/Hwy 136
Left onto Hwy 341/Cove Rd
Right onto Baker and Hearn Circle
U-Turn at Brock Rd
Right onto Hwy 341
Straight through Light at Gordon/10th onto Lee Ave (downtown Chickamauga)
Left onto Chickamauga Rd/Hwy 341
Right onto Hwy 193 (Turns into St. Elmo Ave. after crossing State line)
Right 45th St
Left onto Tennessee Ave

Run

Athletes will have a chance to see the Scenic City as they complete two loops through downtown Chattanooga, the Tennessee Riverwalk, Veterans Bridge, North Shore, Walnut Street Bridge and the beautiful Riverfront Parkway. The final stretch will bring athletes back down Riverfront Parkway to Ross’s Landing. Total elevation gain for the 2 loop run is 975 feet/297 meters.
