A police report says a man who was shot on Friday on Wilkes Avenue was running from deputies at the time.

Kenneth Charles Rogers was taken to the hospital after being shot, but he has now been moved to the Hamilton County Jail.

Rogers, 52, of 2306 Barbara Lane, Soddy Daisy, is charged with violation of an order of protection, resisting stop and frisk, and evading arrest. Authorities said he violated the order twice before and warrants of arrest were issued on those occasions - Nov. 24 and Dec. 2.

The report says a detective began an investigation of an alleged violation of an order of protection by Rogers at 1927 Wilkes Ave. Rogers is prohibited by Circuit Court from contacting or going around a woman at that residence, it was stated.

Rogers was located at the residence and he told deputies that the woman was not there. However, it was found that the woman was inside.

The report said a deputy was starting to put handcuffs on Rogers when he broke away and began fleeing.

The report says, "Rogers evaded arrest by running on foot with multiple deputies after him. During the foot pursuit, Rogers was shot by law enforcement and subsequently taken into custody."

The TBI is looking into the incident.

His bonds total $21,000.
